Answering the Call: Colin Owen (Japan)

Posted by: Team Japan on Thursday, June 3, 2010 - 01:39

It is hard to believe that I am about to start my third missions trip to Japan. God has truly given me a passion for the people, the culture, and more importantly, God's work in what is probably the most advanced, yet unreached place in the world.

Answering the Call: Sarah Baker (Japan)

I will have a slighlty different role in Japan. As a child I took many music lessons, however my passions have changed to working with children, counselling, art, mentorship, teaching, prayer, etc.

blisters on me fingers (Japan)

Posted by: Team Japan on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 - 03:55

This weekend was crazy!  We started out by doing a childrens presentation here at the church.  We invited all the kids from the community and sang songs, played games, and learned about Jesus.  it was great and the kids loved it!  I was amazed at how much they enjoyed playing "What time is it Mr. Wolf?" at one point Max was Mr.

Answering the Call: Jeff Baker (Japan)

I guess the first time I felt called to Japan was almost 10 years ago.  I was sitting in a Missions conference.  The speaker was on home assignment from Africa I think.  I suddenly thought "I think God wants me to go to Japan" but I quickly pushed the thought out of my mind, thinking "nah, what would I do in Japan?"  Everything happens in Gods timing.  A few months later I picked up the guitar for the first time.  Who knew that God was planning for me to practice and practice so that I could come worship with the Japanese Christians.  a

Greetings all!

I'm sorry that I haven't posted recently, but it's been a crazy week.  We finished our training in Ichikawa and are now in Itayanagi in the Aomori prefecture. But I'm getting ahead of myself, let me tell you how we got from there to here.

Looks Like we Maaade iiiiit! (Japan)

Posted by: Team Japan on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 - 07:46

Greetings blogisphere from the Tyndale Japan Team!  We landed safely in Tokyo on what was apparently Monday afternoon.  12 hour flights mess with your head, lol.  We have spent the last day and a half in Ichikawa at the OMF Japan HQ and have been enjoying some team bonding and jet lag.  nothing overly exciting has happened yet as we are all still on Canada time.  I am working on uploading a video I shot on the plane, but I have a low battery so it may not be up for another day or so.  Please continue to pray for us as we continue are training and prepare for th

Answering the Call: Rachel Schock (Japan)

My desire to go to Japan started when I heard about the amazing work that previous Japan teams from Tyndale have done and the stories truly tugged at my spirit. God's not-so-subtle nudge pushed me onwards to praying about my possible involvement, and it turned out to be a heart's cry for the people and an excitement to use my musical ability for His kingdom. I have been playing the flute since I was 12 and it has been key to my growth with God through worship team involvements.

Update May 17th! (India)

Posted by: Team India on Monday, May 17, 2010 - 12:18

As I type this message I am sitting within 100 feet of the doors to the Missionaries of Charity Mother House, the home of Mother Teresa for much of her ministry, and the site of her tomb.
Visiting the other day it was interesting to reflect how one person could so completely follow Jesus, and be almost universally accepted and loved. At the same time it was bizarre struggling with the fact that she was just a person. There was something special about her certainly, but she was still just a person.

Answering the Call: Amanda Van Halteren (Japan)

Oh man. I am going to try to make this short...but it is not a short story because it really started in 2007 when I was about to graduate from University and was looking for opportunity to teach abroad. Japan was the first and only place I applied to and I even had an interview lined up, and things seemed to be in order for it to happen. And yet I remember thinking that because the company that I was going with required a year commitment with no breaks to return home I was probably better to start my missional career closer to home.
