Split Team
Posted by: Team Japan on Tuesday May 22, 2012 | filed under General
Team 1: Kirstie, Keith, Max, Emily, Deena, Tyler
Today, we left at 9am to visit a seniors home an hour away. When we arrived, we introduced ourselves with Martin translating and began singing different worship songs. We couldn't resist some fun upbeat childrens songs so we sang Father Abraham, I've Got the Joy and a few others... they absolutely loved it! There was even one lady and one worker who joined in on the silly song actions and dance moves.

This (click here) is the first of a few Vlogs to follow. You can take a look at some of what we have been doing so far.
Just to update, this morning we had our first church service, which our team lead music for. We were joined by Masato, who helped out with singing. It was a combined service with multiple churches/fellowships present, including Itayanagi, Harvest, Kanagi, and Grace. At the end of the service there was one Japanese man who was baptised.

Kids!
Posted by: Team Japan on Saturday May 19, 2012 | filed under General
Today was all about the kids for the most part. We spent the morning prepping for a kids meeting at the church which some of the team members handed out flyers for at the local school yesterday. We did action songs and had different stations of games and crafts. About 45 kids showed up and a few parents. By the end of the meeting a few of the team members had little fan clubs that followed them everywhere. Some even stayed behind and followed Emily, Kirstie & Deena as they walked to the 100 yen store! It was pretty exciting for all the team to interact with all of these precious faces.

Village of Apples

Today was a pretty full day! We started off the day with some personal journaling and group prayer. Then we divided into our two music teams to practice for the preschools we will be visiting within the next week. After going through some fun action songs, we spent the afternoon touring Itayanagi. Our first stop was a little shop in town that sells Taiyaki, which is fish shaped treat made of pancake dough with a filling of your choice. The options are Red Bean, Custard, Dark or White Chocolate, Meat, or Mayonaise. Everyone found them delicious! The lady who ran the shop was very friendly.

We Have Arrived!
Posted by: Team Japan on Monday May 14, 2012 | filed under General
We've made it to the OMF guest house! It's Tuesday May 15 8:30am here now. Yesterday was our travel day: by plane, train and... lots of walking! From the airport, we took the subway to Ichikawa where the OMF guest house is located. We arrived here at the guest house last night and then went to grab bento boxes of rice and noodles and seaweed wraps at a local convenience store. After we wrapped up for the very long day, we hit the sheets for a good rest. As we write this, we're all just finishing up breakfast, about to do devotions!
