Dr. Brian C. Stiller

Dr. Brian C. StillerPresident and Vice Chancellor, Tyndale University College & Seminary

Since accepting leadership of Tyndale, Stiller has brought a new vision and long term plan to the university and seminary. Prior to 1995, he served in leadership in Youth for Christ and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.

A son of a prairie minister’s home, he graduated from the University of Toronto (undergraduate and graduate) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Boston (doctorate).

He is founder and former editor-in-chief of Canada’s national Christian magazine, Faith Today; he hosted a weekly national television program, Cross Currents and is the author of ten books including Preaching Parables to Postmoderns; Jesus and Caesar: Christians in the Public Square; and From the Tower of Babel to Parliament Hill.

Since coming to Tyndale, Stiller has set the university in a new direction. After a century of education service, the undergraduate college applied to the provincial government for
university status and in 2003, it was granted authority to expand from offering religious degrees to secular degrees.

In 2007, Tyndale concluded an agreement with the Sisters of St Joseph to purchase Morrow Park, an outstanding facility and park-like 56 acre campus on Bayview Avenue, south of Steeles Avenue in the city of Toronto.

This new facility, adjacent to the campus earlier purchased (1976) from the Jesuits (Regis College) allows the university and seminary to grow into its long term vision.

For Stiller, “There is an enormous challenge to provide this generation with the kind of education that not only develops discipline of the mind but cultivation of the character and nurture of the heart of faith.

“Here at Tyndale, with a tradition of over a century of launching people into the kind of public services benefiting people world-wide, we are aware that transformation begins within the student.”
