If you have a strong sense of where you've been called and what your purpose in life is, take action towards your goals by using the resources and education that the Career Centre offers. If you're uncertain whether your resume or your interviewing skills are up to par, speak with a career advisor who will offer personalized advice and recommendations. Follow the three steps below to get started with your career.
1. Build Your Job Hunting Skills
Have a better chance of success at getting that job you want by polishing your resume and interviewing skills so that they are up to par and professional. Get a second opinion on your completed resume, or find resume templates under the Documents section of the Resources page that will give you a professional starting point for your resume. Practice your interviewing skills by having a mock interview with a career advisor.
2. Search for Jobs
Use the extensive resources that the Career Centre has available to start your job search. Look under the Job Searching section on the Resources page to find links to many different job search engines that are both general and specifc to certain niches such as "non-profit".
3. Try Alternate Job Search Methods
If you've been unable to find a job using the conventional methods, branch out and try networking and personal marketing. Find a description of the two skills on the Services page, or book an appointment with a career advisor to find out how to build and leverage those skills on the job market.
