Provides Teacher Candidates with the foundational knowledge and skills to effectively implement the Language Arts curriculum in the Primary/Junior divisions. Teacher Candidates will develop an understanding of and gain experience in the planning, assessment and evaluation of the learning of Primary and Junior students in the Ontario Kindergarten Program and the three strands outlined in the Ontario Curriculum for Language, Grades 1-8: Writing, Reading, and Oral and Visual Communication. This course also integrates skills for planning and implementing effective programs for ESL/ESD students in the elementary classroom so that they will be able to develop and extend their English language skills in an integrated way in the regular classroom.
