Opportunity Description

Opportunity Description:
The Walmer Road Food Bank provides 70-110 clients with a meal and groceries each Monday night. More importantly, however, we provide those essential resources in an environment which values their dignity and respect. We seek to build relationships, and to genuinely love all those who come through our doors while demonstrating God's love for them.

Volunteers with WRFB can:
• help in the mornings with receiving deliveries and unloading trucks
• help in the afternoons with organizing and setting up the space, bagging bread and produce, and ensuring that everything is ready for the evening program
• serve a meal to clients for the evening program
• help clients to shop the shelves and choose their groceries for the week
• work the computers doing intake and registration
• what other skills and gifts do you have that you might be able to share? Let's talk!

Mission Statement:
Downtown Toronto is our primary mission. We are serious about serving here in a meaningful and relevant way. Our core purpose and values give us the framework out of which we serve.

Core Purpose:
We are called to be a missional congregation, living out God’s kingdom in a community of grace, righteousness and reconciliation in downtown Toronto.

Core Values:
Submission. Jesus Christ guides us through prayer, Scripture, and the counsel of His people.
Accountability. At all times, we speak the truth in love.
Diversity. God loves us all. In the same way, we believe that our love for Him can be expressed in many different ways.
Creativity. God created us. We live and serve creatively.
Stewardship. All gifts are needed to build up God’s people and to serve His kingdom.
Justice. We seek God’s justice in Toronto and in the world.
