PRACTICA

Teacher Candidates will complete three distinct practica over the course of the 16 month program. The first will focus on literacy and numeracy, while the following two will focus on developing their teaching practice in each of their two grade divisions. Each of the three practica include two phases – an observation/participation phase and a practice teaching phase.

Notes: P/J Teacher Candidates who wish to include a focus in teaching French as a Second Language in their program must first demonstrate proficiency on the French Language Competency Test. They will then be registered in, and must successfully complete, EDUP 509, plus all other program requirements.

  • J/I Teacher Candidates who wish to register in the French as a Second Language Intermediate teachable must first demonstrate proficiency on the French Language Competency Test and must have successfully completed at least 12 university credit hours in French.
  • All I-level teachables have the prerequisite of a minimum of 12 university credit hours in the discipline.
