Development Officer, Major Gifts

Tyndale University College & Seminary is a trans-denominational, evangelical university college and seminary that prepares leaders for the ministry, marketplace and global mission of the church. Position Description

Tyndale is seeking a Development Officer who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of donors and gift prospects. The focus will be on major gifts with an overall commitment to building and deepening relationships on behalf of Tyndale and to meet pre-determined fundraising goals. The Development Officer will spend the majority of his/her time visiting donors.

As a Development Officer reporting to the Senior Director, Development & Community Relations, you will identify, research, engage, cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing donors, and play a major role in the achievement of Tyndale’s fundraising goals. You will develop and implement strategies and programs to achieve goals for Tyndale’s capital campaign, annual fund, and planned giving. You will also be responsible for donor retention and recognition, researching and preparing briefing documents for soliciting major gifts, as well as maintaining accurate records on donor information/activity on the fundraising database.

You will have an undergraduate degree with a proven track record in fundraising, preferably in the area of major gifts and within a post-secondary education setting. It is important that you be a self-starter who is comfortable working individually and as a team with aggressive fundraising targets and metrics. You would, ideally, be well-connected within the Christian community and have the ability to be a persuasive advocate for Tyndale and Christian post-secondary education. In addition, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience with public speaking and a desire to work in our results oriented entrepreneurial environment.
