Preaching Jesus: An Exploration into the Challenges of Preaching Jesus Today

Preachers need both inspiration and practical tools in order to meet the challenge of proclaiming the gospel in the 21st century. Tyndale’s  annual preaching conference will affirm your ministry of preaching and will equip you for effective communication of God’s Word.

This year's presenter is Will Willimon.  The Reverend Dr. William H. Willimon is Professor of the Practice of Christian Ministry at the Divinity School, Duke University. He is recently retired after serving eight years as Bishop of the North Alabama Conference of The United Methodist Church, where he led the 157,000 Methodists and 792 pastors in North Alabama. For twenty years prior to the episcopacy, he was Dean of the Chapel and Professor of Christian Ministry at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina.

He is the author of sixty books. His Worship as Pastoral Care was selected as one of the ten most useful books for pastors in 1979 by the Academy of Parish Clergy. Over a million copies of his books have been sold.

The topic will be Preaching Jesus: An Exploration into the Challenges of Preaching Jesus Today, and will consist of three lectures:

1. Jesus as a Challenge for the Contemporary Church
2. The Contemporary Church as a Challenge for Jesus
3. The Basis of Preaching: Jesus as the Word Made Flesh
