Course description: Galatians is the fiercest, most polemical, and tersely argued letter from Paul, abounding with ardent fervour, and containing some of his most bold and impetuous theological reasoning. Though the crux of the crisis that came upon the Galatian churches is irrelevant in our day, the letter remains to be one of the most read and discussed books of the New Testament. This course leads students into an in-depth understanding of Galatians by attending to interpretive strategies employed in scholarly study of the letter, and consistent awareness of its theological themes, historical, and literary context. It helps students discover Galatians in new ways they would rarely get on their own.
