April is International Autism Awareness Month

logo_waad1April is Autism Awareness Month and it is celebrated by the international community in to promote dialogue on autism and to increase awareness and understanding of the disorder.

On April 2nd, Canada will be joining the international community to celebrate the acceptance and understanding of individuals living with an ASD while shining a bright light on autism as a growing global issue.

Spring is around the corner and it’s also National Nutrition Month. What better time is there than now to visit PE Central to find ideas and resources that promote healthy living and healthy eating at home and in the classroom.

This extensive site, maintained and developed by a group of educators at Virginia Tech’s Health and Phys-Ed program, offers a glut of free teacher support materials, including lesson ideas, rubrics and demonstration videos. Users can locate the materials by grade and they can search the materials by category or by activity. There is enough information on this site to help phys-ed teachers maintain lessons that are current, exciting, and, most important, relevant throughout the entire school year.
