New Library Resources: STAO Online Resources & World Religions Online

The two following online resources are now available to the Tyndale library user community.

STAO Online Resource Database

The Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario’s (STAO) online resource database is now available to the Tyndale library user community. This extensive digital collection contains well over 1,000 lesson plans and lesson planning resources (i.e. videos, websites, etc.) that could be used to teach one any topic in science in the Ontario classroom. This online library also contains back issues of the STAO’s online publications Crucible and Elements.

Facts On File: World Religions Online

This Facts-on-File database contains articles that explore and provide a thorough introduction the world’s major religions and spiritual traditions and their impact on society and culture. This database also contains videos, images, and downloadable chronologies that outline that history of these major world religions. World Religions Online also contains a calendar of the significant holidays and feasts for the religious and spiritual traditions that it covers.

Oxford Handbooks Online now available

We are delighted to announce that 69 new Oxford Handbooks Online are now available in the areas of Business and Management, Religion and Philosophy. There are hundreds of essays by experts in each field. Each one is available in pdf for downloading.

IMAGE database is available

CAMIO - Catalog of Art Museum Images Online — is a growing online collection documenting works of art from around the world, representing the collections of prominent museums. CAMIO highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covering the complete range of expressive forms.

CAMIO is licensed for use by students, faculty, and researchers at Tyndale University College & Seminary. Works of art may be used for educational and research purposes during the term of the subscription, if they are properly credited. Images may not be published or otherwise distributed.

New Resource: Oxford Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature Online

The Oxford Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature is now available for all Tyndale library users to access online.

To access from any computer connected to the Tyndale network:

Look up Oxford Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature in the Oxford DRS tab.

This resource contains over 3,000 entries written by an international roster of more than 300 authors, the Encyclopedia comprehensively documents and interprets the books read by children throughout the world. With a global perspective that pays attention to significant international trends and the multi-cultural expansion of the field, it includes brief biographies of every major author and illustrator. Also included are feature essays on all genres of children’s literature, individual works, and prominent trends and themes, as well as general essays on the traditions of children’s literature in many countries throughout the world.

Oxford Reference Online

Oxford Reference Online is a new Resource now available for the Tyndale Community. It consists of over 175 dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference works from several disciplines, all published by Oxford University Press. This is a great place to go to get a start on your research by quickly getting a handle on a topic. The first time you go in, view the subject & book tab to see a list of the sources you are searching.
