Weekly Webwatch @ the Education Library

CyberMuse.ca

netwatch_cybermuse

The CyberMuse website is an initiative of the Gallery of Canada created to provide internet users, teachers, parents and students access to its permanent collection.

This free site is a virtual museum, learning portal and a teacher resource site all packed into one. Users can expect to find over 10,000 images of works from the Gallery’s collection. The site also contains video and audio recordings of world renowned artists and it also contains a number of valuable resources that teachers can use in the classroom.

Parents and teachers should also check out the children’s section with its “Artissimo” games. Kids can visit this section and use colour palettes to choose and colour a large number of classical images. There’s also opportunity for kids to experiment with and create tertiary colours.

The Youth section also contains a number of interesting resources, from career information for jobs in the arts; post-cards; advanced art games and more.

This is a great site with a little something for everyone. While visiting be sure to provide the Webmasters continual feedback and suggestions as the site is continually growing and evolving.
