Dr. Simon J. Gathercole Speaks at Tyndale

The Tyndale University College Department of Religious Studies recently hosted Dr. Simon Gathercole as a guest lecturer.

Dr. Gathercole, PhD, University of Durham, is a world renowned scholar in New Testament Studies. He is currently a Lecturer in New Testament Studies at Fitzwilliam College at the University of Cambridge, and the editor of the Journal for the Study of the New Testament. As well as having numerous essays and several books published, Dr. Gathercole has a forthcoming book in the SNTS Monograph Series entitled, The Composition of the Gospel of Thomas: Original Language and Influences.

During his time at Tyndale, Dr. Gathercole delivered two lectures entitled, “In Defense of Substitution,” which covered the Apostle Paul's understanding of atonement, and “Who are the Gnostics?” which examined the historical gnostics, exploring their beliefs, practices, and gospels.
