Gather Chapel - Dr. Rupen Das

Dr. Rupen Das talks about evangelizing to people of the Muslim faith; how to show them unconditional love, as well as how to be good neighbors to them.

Dr. Das is a mission and development consultant for the European Baptist Federation (EBF) in Amsterdam and senior advisor for capacity building with Canadian Baptist Ministries. Previously, he was the community development and relief director at the Lebanese Baptist Society and the program director of the Master of Religion in Middle Eastern and North African Studies at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut, Lebanon.

Dr. Das was a professor and program coordinator of International Project Management at Humber College in Toronto for six years. He gained extensive experience in humanitarian assistance and development as the director for Emergency Response and Disaster Mitigation at World Vision Canada. Through World Vision, Dr. Das has been involved in humanitarian assistance and emergency response projects in Russia, Belarus, Kosovo, India, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

He has worked as a consultant on projects for the Canadian International Development Agency, the Canadian Civil-Military Co-operation and Disaster Assistance Response Team, United Nations Development Program, Pearson Peacekeeping Centre, Plan Canada, Focus Humanitarian (part of the Aga Khan Network), World Vision International, and International Development Support Services (IDSS Australia), among others. Dr. Das was an Adjunct Faculty member at Eastern University in the United States and Visiting Faculty at the Refugee Study Centre at York University. In addition, he has extensive experience in missions with the Canadian Baptist Ministries and with the Navigators.

Dr. Das has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Syracuse University. He holds a doctoral degree (DMin) from Acadia Divinity College at Acadia University. In addition, he holds certificates in Disaster Management (University of Wisconsin), Refugee Studies (York University) and Evaluating and Managing Evaluations of Humanitarian Action (Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action, United Kingdom). Dr. Das has twice been a 21st Century Fellow in the United Kingdom and was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University’s School of Education.
