Chapel - Brett McBride

Brett McBride talks about "the ministry of presence" – the church is to be a movement of God’s people that goes out amongst the community and captivates people with the compassion of Jesus Christ.

Brett grew up in Tottenham, Ontario. He was raised in a loving Christian family but chose a path through his young adult years that left him lost and without hope. In 1997, a friend led him into a life-changing relationship with Jesus.

Brett began attending The Peoples Church and was called into ministry in 1998. He began working in urban ministry in the city of Philadelphia, where he met his wife Stephanie, also serving as an urban missionary.

Upon his return to Toronto he met Colin McCartney, who had just founded UrbanPromise Toronto, a ministry that reaches children growing up in Toronto Community Housing with the gospel of Jesus. Brett served as a missionary with UrbanPromise for 17 years. In 2011, he succeeded Colin as Executive Director of UrbanPromise. He also conducted a preaching ministry among local churches and at regional conferences.

In 2015, Brett was named Lead Pastor of The Peoples Church.
