Ministry: Rahab Ministry

While studying and training at Tyndale to be a spiritual director, Vivien Chu Chen [MTS Spiritual Formation 2011] focused on connecting with the second-generation young adult leaders in her church as well as leading a support group for women suffering with mental illness. Vivien was inspired by three Tyndale students who were following God’s calling to help and advocate for women in Toronto.

In particular, fellow classmate Joanna Yee [MDiv 2010] introduced Vivien to Rahab Ministry, a ministry she started in 2009 that aids girls and women trapped in sex trafficking. Vivien volunteered at Rahab Ministry and immediately felt God calling her to expand her own vision to the second-generation Chinese in downtown Toronto. She began helping women write resumes, prepare for job interviews and navigate the Canadian legal system as part of her work with Rahab Ministry. Vivien has also become more committed to her role as an advocate for these women, fundraising and educating others to their situation.
