Testing 1..2..3

Phil had asked me for some “style” help for his blog. He often quotes people and verses and would like some more style options for his blockquotes. So I have tried a couple out here … see what you you think…

1 John 2:15-17 ESV

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world– the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions–is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. {view} This one seems to blow up in IE :(

Random Act of Cleanliness

I am sure you have heard the term “Random Acts of Kindness” before – well I want to coin a new phrase…

Random Acts of Cleanliness

For years I have been doing this at work – I am sure it makes it a better place to work – even if just a little. The deal here is to make your work place cleaner by doing a little act of cleaning when you see something that is – well – not clean
One of the ROC I do most often I have nicknamed “The Elvis” – When I see a scuff mark on the floor I put my (non-marking sole) shoe on top of it and twist – just like Elvis. This tends to wipe the mark right off the floor. It takes me about 10 more seconds to get where I am going but it makes the floors look snappy :)

Whether you want to do “The Elvis” or pick up trash someone else has dropped, doing a random act of cleanliness will make your work place a better place to be – try it!

Shades of Gray

Iwas looking out my window this morning while eating my breakfast and reading. It was quite foggy out and I could help but think I was looking at a black and white picture. So I grabbed my camera and snapped a couple of shots…

Spammers and Hackers are Getting Coal for Christmas!

I know Christmas is a long time from now but I already know that spammers and hackers are getting coal this Christmas!

I am going to be honest with all you spammers – I don’t need any stock tips – I don’t need anything enlarged or enhanced – I have a watch (several in fact) – I don’t want to start a home business and fire my boss – well ok I don’t want to start a home business ;)

It is bad enough that I get 100+ a day that get caught by SpamAssassin but I am now getting 50+ a day that are making it through for whatever reason???

On top of that I am having to spend way more time making online forms more secure against hackers and now spammers – time that I could be spending on other useful development.

I haven’t got all the answers at this point – I just know that these “Spackers” are getting coal this Christmas!

Prayer: a how-to-guide

One of my favourite blogs posted a how-to guide on prayer. I thought it would be a great post to share with you. He uses a fairly common method (A.C.T.S) and explains it well.

Praying isn’t as difficult as many Christians are lead to believe. However, in my experience many Christians are somewhat uncertain about how to pray. While there’s obviously no absolute “right or “wrong way to pray, sometimes a simple outline will help you out.

Boost your wireless

The Tyndale campus has pretty good wireless coverage — whether you are in the residence or in the public areas you should be able to connect just fine. However the geekier of us may want to boost our signal just a bit.

It has been known for a while that using a Pringles can — you can create an antenna to boost your signal — Today I ran across a new method called the Fryer Basket Antenna. Using simple household items like Chinese cookware together with a USB wifi adapter. Here is how you build it — enjoy!
