How to make square corners

In the world of web development there is an endless supply of how-to articles describing what the author thinks is the best way to accomplish some amazing look or function on a web site. Quite often the resort to wacky hacks that break once a new version of Internet Explorer comes out.

This tutorial has to be one of the most amuzing I have read – possible not the most useful but definately amzuing.

The Leadership Advantage

Over the next couple of days I will be attending a leadership conference called The Leadership Advantage. The goal of this conference is “ Equipping Christian Leaders and Governing Boards for Ministry Excellence.” From the site:

Without question, one of the most crucial issues facing Christian organizations and churches today is board governance. How they function can make or break a ministry or church. In fact, it has been said that the key to effective leadership in today’s churches and Christian ministries lies as much with their governing boards as it does with their pastor or ministry director. more…

I serve on the Board of directors of Medeba and hope to gain some good knowlege on board management from this conference. I will try to give an update followinf these two days.

Ok – it is not realy my intention to change this blog to a photo blog but I wanted to share a couple of photos I took yesterday on my Treo 650. It was a beautiful sky in the morning and I took these photos while driving down a major hiway (404) – maybe not the smartest by they turned out nice.

Taking Home The Prize

Josh HockeyI don’t often write about personal things here but I thought I would share a bit from this past weekend. My Son Josh was in his 2nd ever house leauge hockey tournament this past weekend. His team (Bradford Home Hardware) has been doing very well all season and we were hoping for a win. With his team putting forth some great effort and some awesome team work they did not disapoint.

They took the first game with a strong 10-0 win getting them in great spirits. Josh was covering defence (ususally forward) for most of the game for one of our players who was sick. As the game wenton the coach decided he would let Josh play forward – Josh really wanted to score. He scored his first goal on a breakaway and his second from a rebound in front of the net giving his team their 9th and 10th goals. At the end of this game the caoches from each team picked a MVP from the other team. Joshua was picked and given a great plaque. Both he and I were just a little excited ;)

The second and third games were a little tougher but they were victoriuos winning 8-4 and 8-1 repectively. Josh scored 2 goals in game two to bring his tournament goals up to 4.

The championship game was played against another team from Bradford – their arch rivals – Bradford Audiotronics. Bradford seems to produce some great hockey players and was well represented at this tournameent. All year it has been a battle between these two teams. They have tied two games and Bradford Home Hardware has won all the rest – they have always been hard fought games. This final game was no different with some nail biting moments throughout. We had a couple of hit posts/crossbars – some great saves from our star goalie – in the end they came up on top: 5-3

I am really proud of Joshua and how he played – he gave 100% every game. Joshua finished the tournament with 4 goals, 3 assists and a huge smile. I want to thank his coaching staff for always doing a great job and working hard with these boys!

Church + Geek = CTM

Jim Walton is a Geek – I don’t think he would mind me saying that – Geek these days is a term used for people who excel with technology. Geek is Chic! Jim is also a Christian – I am positive he doesn’t mind me saying that!

When Geeky guys (gender inclusive) go to church they tend to get involoved in the church technology – web sitesprojectionaudio/visual/sound – I have been for years.

Jim writes a blog called Church Tech Matters - it is right up my alley! He writes about different types of technology used in a church setting and how to make it better. Recently Jim started a wiki (what?) called the Church Tech Matters Wiki. The content has been started based around church projection – something close to my heart and pretty important technology for the modern church.

So if you have any interest in technology – the church and how the two relate – check out Jim’s blog and the wiki. You have to love it – using technology to talk about technology… Geek is Chic!
