About
My name is Andy and I consider myself a centre-brain kinda guy. I am a Web Developer at Tyndale University College & Seminary which fits my centre-brain-ness real well – like a glove.
Why Centre Brain?
Well everyone knows the brain has two sides and people tend to operate better on one side or the other – The left side of your brain deals with things like logic and looks at things in a sequential, rational, analytical, objective way and tends to look at parts rather than the whole. The right side of the brain is the creative side – it is more random, intuitive, holistic, subjective and looks at the whole. Well I think I fall right in the middle somewhere. Now before you go on thinking I am bragging… I’ll admit – to be centre brained means you are not super strong on either side. I am a creative web designer but there are others that are way more creative – I am a solid web programmer but once again there are others that are stronger. But working as a one-man web development team at Tyndale – being a centre-brain works out great!
Now this also fits my personality really well. The staff at Tyndale have recently gone through the True Colors® personality tests – I came out as a dead tie between Green and Orange. The green personality has traits like abstract thinking, analytical thinking, perfectionism, and exploring ideas – this fits well with the left-of-centre part of my brain. The orange traits – things like a hunger for variety, spirit of adventure, desire to test the limits, entertaining others and crisis management skills fit over on the right-of-centre half of my brain.
So my personality – green-orange – fits my brain type – centre-brain which fits my career choice – Web Developer – which is why this blog is called “Centre Brain?
