Online Accommodation FAQ's

Will accommodations still be provided online?

Yes! Almost all the accommodations previously offered at Tyndale will be available to students the Fall 2020 semester! Our Accessibility Service office is working hard with faculty and the department of Distributed Learning to ensure a smooth transition of accommodations to an online platform. Booking Appointments with Accessibility Services

Accessibility Services will be working remotely during the Fall 2020 semester. To book a video or phone call, please email rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca and specify your availability (please provide multiple days and times).

Note-takers

  • Accessibility Services will be working with professors directly to contact students regarding volunteer note-taking positions (Note: there is no guarantee a volunteer note-taker will be found for a course).
  • If you have an approved note-taker accommodation, please contact Accessibility Services (rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca) using the following email template:

    Good morning/afternoon,

    I am emailing you today to request a volunteer note-taker in: [COURSE CODE/NAME]

    Thank you,

Lecture Recording

If you have an approved lecture recording accommodation, please sign and send the  Online Lecture Audio Agreement Form to Accessibility Services (rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca).

Extensions

  • Extension requests can still be made for assignments and papers. Students must contact their professors up to one week before the original assignment due date, to negotiate an accommodated due date (maximum of a 2-week extension can be granted).
  • If you have the approved extension accommodation, please contact your professor using the following email template to request assignment extensions:

    Good morning/afternoon,

    I am emailing you today to request an extension accommodation for the upcoming assignment, [ASSIGNMENT NAME], in [COURSE CODE/NAME].  This accommodation is based on my active accommodation plan. I intend to have this assignment submitted on ____________ (maximum 2-weeks from original sue date). If you have any concerns/questions, please contact Accessibility Services.

  • For any issues/concerns, please fill out the Online Concern Form and email it to rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca .

Alternative Textbooks

If you are unable to purchase a digital copy of your required readings, please email your receipt(s), upon purchasing the print textbook(s), with the book title and ISBN number to Accessibility Services (rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca).  Alternative textbooks can only be requested once the texts have been purchased.

Test/Exam Accommodations

  • Extra time for exams will still be granted for those with the approved accommodation.
  • If you have an approved exam/test accommodations (Extra time  and/or Use of a memory aid), please contact your professor using the following email template:

    Good morning/afternoon,

    I am emailing you today to request accommodations for the upcoming test/exam/take home test in [COURSE CODE/NAME].  The test accommodation I am requesting is   [% Extra Time and/or Use of Memory Aid], based on my active accommodation plan. If you have any concerns/questions, please contact Accessibility Services.

Take home tests (24hrs)

No extended time will be granted for take-home tests. If you have multiple tests that occur on the same day, fill out the Online Concern form, to request rearranging one of test dates, and email it to rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca .

Multiple assignments on the same day

If you have an extension accommodation, please request this accommodation using the template provided in the Student Online Accommodation Guide Fall 2020. If you do not have this accommodation, please fill out the Online Concern form and email it to rvonk [at] tyndale [dot] ca to request rearranging one of assignment dates.
