English Degree Requirements

The work of authors such as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien has inspired millions. But what inspired them? Many of the same works that will form the staple of your education as an English major at Tyndale.

For those who choose to take a Bachelor of Arts in English at Tyndale study literature in the hands of its greatest practitioners: Homer, Virgil, Sophocles, Dante, Shakespeare, Milton, Wordsworth - these are just some of the authors you will study in your first year alone!

In advanced courses, students broaden and deepen their knowledge, studying the craft and technique of writing and the theory that underlies it, while simultaneously receiving a broad historical grounding in literature across the centuries.

And of course there are also special courses that focus on the works of Lewis and Tolkien too!
