After working as K-12 Science Coordinator in the Toronto District Board, Doug taught the science methods courses to Tyndale teacher candidates for ten years. He was lead author of Addison-Wesley's Science and Technology Grades 4 to 8 (1999) and co-author of Nelson’s Science Perspectives Grades 9-10 (2010). Presently, as Research Professor, he is studying teacher and student learning in the areas of soil and climate sciences. His recent paper, “Changing evangelical minds on climate change,” appeared in Environmental Research Letters in 2019, and was referred to in the prestigious Physics World magazine. On March 26, 2020, he will receive the STAO Emeritus Award for his many contributions to science education through the years.
