Tyndale Seminary invites applications for a faculty position in Counselling. The successful candidate will have academic and professional credentials in counselling, significant counselling experience, proven clinical skills and intercultural competencies. Demonstrated excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and scholarship is essential. This is a full-time faculty position (with the option of it being an 80% position for someone who wishes to maintain a part-time counselling practice).
Tyndale Seminary is an accredited graduate school of theology in the evangelical Protestant tradition. The student body is characterized by rich multicultural and multidenominational diversity. Tyndale’s counselling program is a professionally-recognized, graduate-level program of study providing students with educational preparation for credentialed clinical practice and pastoral care ministries.
While all applications will be considered, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. As a faith-based institution of higher learning, the successful candidate will align with Tyndale’s Statement of Faith and will demonstrate a capacity to integrate faith and learning.
The incumbent will be part of a department offering a full range of clinical counselling courses that integrate rigorous theoretical understanding with applied psychotherapy methods and skills. The incumbent will have the breadth of expertise necessary to teach foundational counselling courses, as well as courses in an area of specialization. Teaching, scholarship, and service comprise the three-fold responsibilities of all faculty members.
- Doctoral degree desired as well as significant clinical counselling experience;
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) in a professional body or college of psychotherapists;
- Supervisory experience an asset, with proven ability to mentor students / beginning therapists;
- Demonstrated capacity for thoughtful and intentional integration of faith and practice;
- Ability to effectively relate to a multicultural, multidenominational, multigenerational student body;
- Demonstrated collegial style committed to collaboration with colleagues within the institution as well as with the broader professional community.
Salary: Commensurate with academic rank and experience
