Tyndale to Sell its Ballyconnor Court Campus

Thursday, August 2, 2012

Tyndale University College & Seminary is pleased to announce that plans for consolidating their operations onto their Bayview campus are continuing to move ahead with the sale of their 25 Ballyconnor Court property to Shining Hill Homes Inc.

In April 2011 Tyndale’s Board of Governors committed to a single campus vision following the planned departure of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto to their new home. Over the last several months, Tyndale met with a number of parties who expressed serious interest in the purchase of Tyndale’s Ballyconnor property. All interested parties submitted expressions of interest and after much consideration, Shining Hill Homes Inc. was chosen.

Dr. Gary Nelson, President of Tyndale, stated, “This is an important step forward in our transition to the Bayview campus. The generous gifts received from Tyndale supporters and the funds received from the sale of the Ballyconnor property will finish the $58 million Uncommon Ground capital campaign, enable Tyndale to do some initial renovations and complete our financial commitment in purchasing Morrow Park from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto.”

The 380,000 square foot Bayview campus will provide Tyndale with ample room for growth, as well as opportunities to engage with the surrounding community. Currently, the Toronto Catholic District School Board is leasing the high school property.

Shining Hill Homes is a development and home building company owned by Angelo De Gasperis and Paul Bailey. As principals, they have played a leading role in the creation of thousands of homes across the GTA. Shining Hill Homes expects to submit planning applications for a single family home project on the Tyndale site by the fall of 2012. The transfer of ownership of the Ballyconnor campus will occur in October 2014 or earlier if Tyndale is able to complete its transition to the Bayview campus before then.

Tyndale is a Christian university college and seminary that prepares leaders for work in the private, public, and not-for-profit sector, ministry, and the global mission of the Church.
