2012 Distinguished Alumni Gordon Heath

Gordon Heath graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Theology from Ontario Bible College (now Tyndale) in 1989. In the same year he married Virginia McKnight, whom he met in his first year of study. In 1994 he graduated with a Masters of Divinity Degree from Acadia Divinity College and in 2004 he completed a PhD from Knox College, University of Toronto. Gordon was ordained by the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches in 1995.

He joined the Tyndale Faculty in 2000, teaching history and directing the Degree Completion program. He was subsequently invited to join the faculty of McMaster Divinity College as Assistant Professor of Christian History and Director of the Canadian Baptist Archives. Dr. Heath is now Associate Professor of Christian History at McMaster. He has served as President of the Canadian Society of Church History and is a member of a variety of historical societies. He currently serves as an external faculty member of Tyndale's Academic Council.

Gordon and Virginia have two children, Joshua and Natasha with whom they enjoy ice and ball hockey. He engages in his neighbourhood as a volunteer coach for youth hockey.
