Fall Term to Start on the Ballyconnor Campus

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Tyndale has been working hard with the City of Toronto over the past 15 months to secure the permits needed to renovate the Bayview campus.  We were able to obtain the permit for the mechanical and electrical work last year and are extremely grateful to have recently received the permit for the kitchen renovations.

Although we are still waiting on the final permits to complete the remaining renovations, the kitchen renovations represent a substantial component of what needs to be done in order for us to occupy the new campus.  This work is now proceeding as quickly as possible.  In addition, the mechanical and electrical systems upgrades, the largest single component of the renovations, are largely completed.

Ballyconnor CampusOur primary goal for this transition has always been to minimize, as much as possible, disruptions to the student experience at Tyndale while the renovations were ongoing.  This continues to be our objective.  Therefore, given the uncertainties of when the remaining permits will be received and the renovations completed, we have determined that Tyndale will start the fall term on the Ballyconnor campus – including classes, student residences, student services and food services operations – while we continue to press ahead with completing the renovations as quickly as possible.

For all students who are in residence, the term will start on the Ballyconnor campus and Shannon Loewen, Director of Residence, will work with each student to honour their requests as best she can in the meantime.

We will keep you updated on the issuance of the final permits and the progress of the renovations.  Once the permits are received, precise plans and the timing of the move will be finalized and communicated.  At this point, we expect that the move will occur in stages throughout the fall.

We thank you for your prayers, support and patience.  We greatly appreciate your continuing prayers and participation in this complex, exciting, historic time.

Randy Henderson – Senior VP Finance & Chief Operating Officer
