Introducing Extended healthcare benefits for Students

One of the hallmarks of a Tyndale University experience is Holistic Student Development. In our programming – inside and outside of the classroom - we desire to attend to your academic, spiritual, emotional/mental, social, physical, financial, career and vocational well-being. To that end, beginning this fall, Tyndale is partnering with the Student Benefit Alliance who provides healthcare benefits for thousands of university students nationwide.

The extended healthcare benefits will give you insurance coverage in areas such as:

  • Prescription Drugs
  • Dental Care
  • Chiropractor
  • Physiotherapy
  • Mental Health Counselling

If you already have extended healthcare benefits, either yourself or through a family member such as a parent or spouse, you will be given an opportunity to opt-out of the plan and receive a refund. Conversely, if you and your family don’t currently have extended healthcare benefits you may wish to take advantage of adding dependent coverage.

The cost of this benefit can be found on the payment plan documents located on the Student Financial Services Payment Plans & Methods web page.

Starting in July, you are encouraged to visit mystudentplan.ca and select “Tyndale University” from drop down menu to learn more and become familiar with the programs provided under the extended healthcare benefits plan. If you are an international student you will have access to the above plan in addition to the Emergency Medical Plan, details of which are also provided through mystudentplan.ca.

The Student Benefit Alliance will be attending Tyndale University’s campus early in the fall schedule for an in-person information session to help you understand the plans more fully and to answer any questions you may have. Stay tuned to your email and mystudentplan.ca for more information coming soon.

Update:
We previously shared that we were partnering with the Student Benefit Alliance. The company has since changed their name, which you will notice on the website. They are now referred to as Gallivan Student Health & Wellness.
