Probes in detail the history of nineteenth century Britain, an era dominated by the idea of progress. Empire, literature, warfare, democracy, religion and gender relations are many of the topics that will be examined in order to understand more fully British society at the height of its power during the long reign of Queen Victoria. Prerequisites: 9 credit hours in HIST including 3 credit hours at the 3000 level and third year standing. HIST 301, 342 are recommended.
