Purpose

The Donald N. and Kathleen G. Bastian Chair of Wesley Studies at Tyndale Seminary exists to provide students at this multi-denominational institution with an understanding of the life, theology and practices of John and Charles Wesley and of the Methodist movement they were used of God in raising up; and to provide students of a Wesleyan persuasion special in-depth instruction in Wesleyan studies, thought and practice.

James E. Pedlar is the third occupant of the Bastian Chair of Wesley Studies at Tyndale. In addition to Wesley-related teaching and research, Dr. Pedlar convenes an Annual Wesley Studies Symposium, and serves as General Editor of the book series, Tyndale Studies in Wesleyan History and Theology.  He is a fellow of the Manchester Wesley Research Centre, an Assistant Editor of Wesley and Methodist Studies, and Second Vice-President of the Wesleyan Theological Society.
