Introduction to Death and Dying (Module 1)

This module will be an exploration of the various attitudes towards death and an examination of the reactions to loss as expressed through grief. Death and dying can present an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth as we explore our losses and share our grief. In order to do this, we need to consider the ten essential factors to help the healing process to occur.
Mental Health Training for Pastors & Ministry Leaders

In strengthening our work with churches and other Christian ministries, Tyndale Wellness Centre is expanding its mental health reach by training pastors and other ministry leaders to better understand mental health and mental illness and more effectively support their members who need care in this important area of life.

In this workshop, we make the latest research findings intensely practical and fill the entire experience with challenging cases and ideas for positive interventions with bereaved people. Though bereavement is, to be sure, some science and some art, this workshop addresses the emerging challenges to make sense of all the noise about such things as grief stages, pro longed grief disorder, and complicated mourning.

Ministry Formation Certificate

The Ministry Formation Certificate is a six-month, cohort-based program designed to equip pastors and ministry leaders for effective service in their local contexts. Through interactive learning, mentorship, and practical training, participants explore three key areas of formation: Personal, Communal, and Missional Ministry.
Cultural & Gender Approaches to Grief (Module 2)

This module will explore the different ways individuals, men and women express grief and adapt. We will examine the mourning traditions of different cultures and explore a number of different strategies to work through grief with the aim of increasing sensitive and understanding which we bring to the issue of death.
Medical Assistance in Dying - What is it? Exploring the History of MAID and its Reality Today

This session offers an explanation of MAiD, enriched by an overview of its a) legal development (Criminal Code) and b) medical development (eligibility and safeguards and latest Health Canada report). It also introduces two tensions faced by clinicians and medical facilities: conscientious objection and the relationship between MAiD and other forms of end-of-life care, including palliative care.
Dealing with Disenfranchised Grief (Module 3)

This module will explore the nature of disenfranchised grief by understanding the language of grief and loss. Disenfranchised grief can include suicide, traumatic death, and other losses that are challenging to process because they are unacknowledged avoided or not legitimized. The second part of this module will provide training in setting up a support recovery group. This will include guidelines for groups, intake forms, the content of a good group, and learning to be a facilitator.
Spiritual & Biblical Resources to Cope with Loss (Module 4)

This module will explore what it means to grieve and lament, we will learn how to help others in their time of sorrow and loss. Special attention will be paid to the Psalms as a resource for encouragement for those dealing with death.
