Biography

John Franklin is a philosopher, theologian, and cultural leader who has spent decades exploring the intersection of faith, imagination, and the arts, and received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Trinity College at the University of Toronto. As Executive Director of Imago, a Canadian initiative supporting Christians in the arts, he has championed the role of creativity in spiritual and cultural renewal. John has taught philosophy at Tyndale and theology at both Tyndale Seminary and Trinity College. He also serves as Chair of Lausanne Movement Canada and was a founding member of the World Evangelical Alliance’s Task Force on Art in Mission. In Tyndale’s Media Arts program, John invites students to see imagination not just as artistic flair, but as a vital way of knowing—one that connects memory, meaning, and hope in the creation of transformative media.
