Therapy Skills for ADHD: Understanding ADHD and Applying Therapeutic Strategies Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a complex phenomenon that may have many impacts in the individual's life, in areas such as emotional regulation, executive function, and relationships. This seminar will review the phenomenon of ADHD and how a variety of psychotherapeutic skills may be helpful when working as a therapist with individuals with ADHD. We will discuss specific strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy skills as applied to ADHD. Please note that this will be a 90mins seminar.

Presenter
Dr. Cara Brown
Dr. Cara Brown is a psychiatrist who has been running group therapy in her community practice since 2016. She has expertise in psychotherapy (IPT, CBT, Mindfulness) for mood and anxiety disorders in women across the reproductive lifespan. She completed medical school and psychiatry residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Brown has worked at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre since 2013 and also leads groups for the Women’s Mood and Anxiety Clinic: Reproductive Transitions. She has an academic appointment as a Lecturer at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Brown is a certified IPT Supervisor though the International Society for Interpersonal Psychotherapy (ISITP), supervises trainees in IPT and perinatal group therapy at Sunnybrook, and is a registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator.
Dr. Anna Chen
Dr. Anna Chen is a psychiatrist who has been leading group therapies since 2015 in a variety of modalities. She is a consultant psychiatrist at Seneca Medical Centre. Dr. Chen and Dr. Brown work together facilitating and teaching Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Skills and Interpersonal Therapy to individuals and parents/families with a variety of mental health challenges, including ADHD. She completed Psychiatry residency at the University of Toronto and Medical School at the University of Calgary.
