In this brief seminar on addictions, participants will: review the criteria of what constitutes an addiction, with a brief survey of the variations one might encounter within the field; identify common challenges in working with individuals who meet the criteria for an addiction; and learn practical interventions useful for sustained change. Presenter

Dr. Adrianne Sequeira
Dr. Adrianne Sequeira is a Registered Psychotherapist, Certified Psychoanalyst and Registered Nurse, with expertise in psychiatric/mental health and addictions.
She is EMDR trained, has done an Externship in Emotion Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), a Certificate in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and an advanced course in Motivational Interviewing.
She is an Associate at the Institute of Family Living, and offers individual psychoanalysis as well as individual, couple and family psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy, helping people adjust and cope with life transitions and interpersonal difficulties.
She was a Mental Health First Aid Instructor for 13 years, and also teaches Therapeutic & Systemic Approaches to Addictions (MDiv Counselling program) and Experiential Therapies (DMin Counselling program) at Tyndale University. She is also a supervisor.
