What We Do
The JHSC is an advisory body that works with management to ensure the health and safety of all employees at Tyndale. Using the Ontario Health and Safety Act we inspect the workplace and make recommendations to make sure Tyndale continues to be a safe place to work.
Meetings of the JHSC are held five times per year where the committee addresses health and safety concerns.
Information about the JHSC, and a current copy of the Ontario Health and Safety Act can also be found in F400 UGS Copy Room (F402B), CH400 Kitchentte (CH406) and A300 Seminary Copy Room (A301A).
Have a safe day!
The 3 Rights
The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) sets out the rights and duties of workers, supervisors and employers in keeping workplaces safe and healthy in provincially regulated workplaces. For more information on these rights, please contact the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
The Right to Know
You have the right to know about hazards in your workplace and to be trained how to protect yourself from harm.
The Right to Refuse
You have the right to refuse unsafe work, including situations where you believe you’re in danger of workplace violence. Your employer cannot fire or discipline you for refusing unsafe work or for asking them to address a health and safety issue.
The Right to Participate
You also have the right to help identify and resolve workplace health and safety concerns. There are many ways you can do this, such as asking questions, raising concerns and giving positive feedback. One of the most effective ways you can get involved is to join Tyndale's JHSC.
Health & Safety Training Information
According to Provincial Regulations, all employees must receive job specific Health and Safety training. The Joint Health and Safety Committee is please to work with Tyndale management to provide this training to ensure Tyndale remains a safe place to work.
Workplace Inspections
Workplace inspection of Tyndale buildings, parking lots, and grounds are generally conducted on the second week of each month by members of the Joint Health & Safety Committee. We work in pairs and will be wearing a "Health & Safety Inspector" name tag. We will be as quick and efficient as possible when going through office spaces. Feel free to discuss any concerns you have regarding health & safety when you see any of the members.
