Embracing the End of Life (Module 6 of 6)

This module invites students to explore the complex realities that arise at the end of life. Together we will consider the ethical decisions that may need to be made, the importance of having a living will, and the sacred practices of saying goodbye and keeping vigil. Students will learn to recognize the signs that the body is nearing death and to appreciate the rituals and beliefs that bring meaning and comfort in those final days. Throughout the course, you will be equipped to walk gently alongside those who are dying and to support their families with compassion, presence, and hope as they face loss.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand ethical decisions surrounding the end of life
  • Learn how to prepare important documents such as living will
  • Discover how to bring about closure
  • Explore different rituals at the end of life
