This program is designed for Canadian Christian leaders, aiming to equip white and racialized leaders with the skills and insights necessary to navigate and lead effectively in diverse and intercultural contexts. Targeted at those facing challenges from a survival mentality to monocultural constraints and the risk of disengagement among second-generation members, this module seeks to elevate intercultural humility and competencies and offer insights into the unique Canadian context.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  • Analyze Canadian History: Participants will be able to critically analyze key events that have shaped contemporary Canada and articulate the narratives that contribute to its national identity.
  • Diagnose Contemporary Canada: Participants will be able to identify and evaluate the unique social, political, and cultural elements that characterize 21st-century Canada.
  • Situate Personal Context: Participants will demonstrate the ability to contextualize their personal experiences and identities within the broader Canadian landscape.
  • Explore Faith in Canada: Participants will gain an understanding of the diverse expressions of faith within the Canadian context and reflect on how these expressions have historically influenced and can continue to influence Canadian society.
  • Engage with Diverse Narratives: Through an examination of stories from Canadians of various backgrounds—including Indigenous, white, and Diaspora communities—participants will analyze how individual experiences reflect broader societal themes and contribute to a deeper understanding of Canadian culture.
  • Cultivate Informed Perspectives: By integrating knowledge of Canadian history, engaging in group discussions, and completing an interconnection project, participants will develop informed perspectives that challenge myths and stereotypes, enabling them to identify their roles and offer guidance within their communities.
