In strengthening our work with churches and other Christian ministries, Tyndale Wellness Centre is expanding its mental health reach by training pastors and other ministry leaders to better understand mental health and mental illness and more effectively support their members who need care in this important area of life.

This is a Tyndale Centre for Pastoral Imagination project that has been generously funded by the Lily Endowment's Pathways to Tomorrow Grant.

About our training

A 2-day training covering a wide range of topics for pastors and ministry leaders who work with individuals with mental health issues.

Topics include Mental Health and Mental Illness, Self-Care, Understanding Psychotherapy, Barriers to Psychotherapy, Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy, and Collaborating with Tyndale Wellness Centre. 

Part 1: Friday, June 14, 9am-3pm
Part 2: Friday, June 21, 9am-3pm

*Participants are encouraged to attend both trainings as sessions are related.

Our Presenters

Wilma Nevers

Wilma Nevers

Wilma is the Director at Tyndale Wellness Centre, a Registered Psychotherapist, and also holds credentials with American and Canadian Associations in Marriage & Family Therapy. Wilma has a life-long passion for the wellbeing of the Church. This has led her to the training of Christian ministry leaders to support their members who have mental health concerns and refer them to psychotherapy where needed. Her calling and involvement in leadership in both secular and Christian organizations encouraged her to complete a DMin in Leadership, which has strengthened her skills and resolve to support Church leaders in caring for the body of Christ. 

Bassma Younan

Bassma Younan

Bassma is the Assistant Director at Tyndale Wellness Centre, a Registered Psychotherapist, a clinical Supervisor, and a member of the American and Canadian Associations in Marriage and Family Therapy. Bassma’s background includes over 8 years of international and cross-cultural experience through mission work. She has a passion to help those in ministry and missions work to live a life worthy of their calling as children of God. She is interested in the integration of spirituality and psychotherapy and uses both in her work with her clients. 

Adelaide Pinder

Adelaide Pinder

Adelaide is a Registered Psychotherapist at Tyndale Wellness Centre and is a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals. Adelaide has a passion for the well-being of individuals, especially for those who have experienced hardship through imprisonment, traumatic experiences and loss. This calling has led Adelaide to focus on being the extended arm in the body of Christ and to encourage and support those caring for others.

Lois Park

Lois Park

Lois is a Registered Psychotherapist at the Tyndale Wellness Centre supporting student and community clients. Lois is passionate about connecting, journeying and supporting the church community and her clients. Her heart and calling in serving, and helping others towards healing and growth has led her to the training of Christian ministry leaders to offer understanding and support about mental health, psychotherapy and spiritual integration.
