Pastoral ministry is meaningful, challenging, and always unfolding. The Ministry Formation Certificate from Tyndale's Centre for Pastoral Imagination (TCPI) gives pastors and emerging pastoral leaders space to grow in their calling, deepen their ministry practice, and learn alongside others navigating today's realities of ministry.
Developed in partnership with local church leaders, this six-month certificate program brings together experienced pastors, ministry practitioners, and Tyndale faculty to explore the theological foundations and practical skills that support healthy, faithful, and contextually grounded ministry.
Formation for the ministry you’re called to
Through a cohort-based learning experience, participants become part of an intimate community of learning, reflection, and mutual support. Together, they will explore three interconnected areas of ministry formation:
- Personal Ministry - Deepen self-awareness, reflect on your calling, and attend to your personal formation for ministry.
- Communal Ministry - Grow in your understanding of relationships, community, and the shared life of the church.
- Ministry in Practice - Connect theological reflection with the everyday realities and practical challenges of pastoral ministry.
Learning is shaped by the contexts and callings of each cohort, with experienced pastors and practitioners working alongside Tyndale faculty to bring theological insight into conversation with lived ministry experience.
Learning in community, growing through mentorship
Ministry formation happens not only in the classroom, but also through relationships, shared experiences, and ongoing conversation with others who understand the work.
The program includes:
- A one-day personal formation retreat at Tyndale University.
- Five Friday learning days between November 2026 and April 2027.
- Mentorship and connection through TCPI’s Monthly Ministry Mornings, bringing together pastors from across the Greater Golden Horseshoe for shared learning, encouragement, and conversation.
Who is this program for?
The Ministry Formation Certificate is designed for existing pastors and those discerning or preparing for pastoral ministry who want to deepen their formation, strengthen their ministry practice, and learn alongside others serving in diverse church contexts.
Whether you are beginning your pastoral journey or seeking renewed perspective in an established ministry, this program offers space to reflect, build relationships, and develop the imagination and practices needed for the church today and tomorrow.
