Talking with Children and Teens about Grief

Children and teens grieve differently from adults, and their responses shift as they grow and age. Play, silence, or acting out can be easily misunderstood, leaving caregivers unsure how to help.

In this seminar, Rebecca Ketelaars will offer age‑appropriate ways to talk with young people about death, loss, and the emotions that follow. With developmental insights and a Christ‑centred approach, she will provide practical tools to help grieving families and those who support them understand what lies beneath children’s behaviours and respond to the questions that arise after a loss. This session is ideal for parents, youth leaders, Sunday school teachers, ministry volunteers, and educators seeking to support grieving children and teens as they navigate life and special milestones without their loved one.
