The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)
One tradition that is enjoyed during the Advent season is the lighting of candles, which cast a warm glow in our homes and churches. These candles remind us of the magnificent light that shone one dark night to welcome the baby Jesus into the world. This light represents the hope and peace that reaches all of humanity through Jesus. It is a light that continues to shine within us and is beautifully reflected in the lives and calling of Tyndale University students.
Dennise Lorenzini Juarez (BA 2027), carries that light and a deep sense of purpose and calling. “My goal is to become a psychologist and one day earn my PhD so that I can walk alongside others who are hurting, especially those from underserved communities. This dream comes from a very personal place… I want to be the person I once needed; someone who listens, someone who stays, someone who says, ‘You are not alone.’”

Throughout her first months at Tyndale, Dennise faced significant struggles with her mental health. She describes moments when the weight of academic pressures, financial burdens, and personal challenges felt overwhelming. Yet in those moments, she leaned on faith, on prayer, and on the quiet assurance that God was not finished with her story.
Despite the hardships, Dennise finished the year with a perfect record of all As and made the Dean’s List. “I give God all the glory for that. Your support came at a time when I needed encouragement the most. It reminded me that I am seen, that my hard work is not in vain, and that there are people like you who believe in my potential. That means more to me than words can fully express.”
“One of the reasons I am pursuing [a degree in] psychology is because I know what it feels like to struggle in silence. I want to be a pillar of support, a safe place and a compassionate voice for others who may be facing their own battles. Whether it’s in a counselling room, a classroom, or a community setting, I want to live a life of service equipped with both knowledge and love. Your generosity is helping build that foundation.”
Faithful Tyndale supporters are the bridge that keeps this life-transforming education within reach. This fall, we celebrated more than 360 new students and encouraging growth in retention, each life poised for transformation. Yet we did not meet our enrolment goal, and this shortfall makes your support more vital than ever.
You can remind students that God has a plan and purpose for their journey. It is one of the many ways He faithfully provides for them. Please consider giving today.
An investment in Tyndale University advances a biblically-focused, Christian education, and helps students become the hands and feet of Christ in this world. The generosity displayed by supporters is the reason their light shines brighter. Every gift provides the stability and support students need to continue their studies, to grow in their faith, and to step into their calling.
Thank you for your prayers and support during this Christmas season and into the coming year. May the shining light of the Advent Season and Christ’s birth fill you with peace, love and joy.
