Content Types

The Tyndale website contains many types of content, such as general webpages, courses, events, syllabi, programs, webforms etc. Each one of these types of content have been described inside of our system and will allow you to insert the pieces required for that specific type of content. We call these Content Types.

Other than basic fields such as Title, each content type contains unique fields to store data relevant to the content type. For example, the Event content type contains date fields to display the start and end dates and times of an event. The Syllabi content type contains an file field, where the syllabi file is uploaded. The Faculty content type is used for displaying a faculty member’s bio and contains fields like Faculty Photo for uploading the person’s picture, and Title fields for displaying their job positions.

Some content types are designed to store specific information (ex. Events, Courses, Syllabi) while others are designed to provide specific functionality with some flexibility in the content (ex. Webpage, Webforms, [dept] Resources.)

As a Content Editor with basic permissions, you will be able to create and manage the generic content types of "Webpage" and "Event". You may also be given additional permissions to manage custom content types designed for your department.

✓ Before you create any new content on the website, you should ask yourself… What TYPE of content am I creating, and what CONTENT TYPE should I use?

Custom Content Type(s) may be built for your site section to meet your specific needs — these will be created in coordination with departments as needed.
