Chris Payk (MDiv, ThM, 2009)

Chris Payk (MDiv 2008, ThM 2009) was born and raised in Welland, Ontario. He completed his MDiv (2008) and ThM (2009) at Tyndale Seminary, and upon graduation, moved with his family to Taipei, Taiwan, where he has lived for the past sixteen years. His ThM thesis was published as Grace First: Christian Mission and Prevenient Grace in John Wesley. In 2021, he completed his PhD at National Chengchi University in Taipei, which was subsequently published as Following Christ and Confucius: Wang Mingdao and Chinese Christianity.
Chris has worked as a pastor, chaplain, and teacher in Taiwan and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy. He recently celebrated his twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with his wife, Terri. The Payks have two children, Kent and Anna. Whenever he is back in Canada, he always tries to visit Tyndale University to reconnect with friends there.
