Narratives and Spiritual Formation(Module 7 of 7)

This course will introduce students to the power of imagination and story in spiritual growth. We will explore how stories, fairy tales and myths speak to patterns in our lives. By the end of the class, students will become familiar with the importance of a sanctified imagination, why story is so critical in spiritual growth as well as ways and means of engaging with story personally and in community.

Learning Objective:

  • A self-awareness of what populates our own stories
  • Consider a model of spiritual formation that includes story
  • Become familiar with engaging the human faculty of imagination to continue to find and redeem our stories in the greater narrative of God’s love
  • Think critically about hearing and engaging with one another’s story

Lyndsay is an instructor at Tyndale Seminary in both the Clinical Counselling and Thanatology programs, and she also teaches in the Doctor of Ministry program. She is a Registered Psychotherapist whose clinical work focuses on children, families, and individual adults. Lyndsay completed her Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation, where her research explored the use of imagination, narrative, and somatic experiencing as pathways for spiritual growth.

The modules in this certificate will be delivered online. The platform for the live streaming will be Zoom.

Refund Policy: Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of event date, will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 3-6 days before the event, we will offer you a credit for future TSFC events. Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the event will not receive a refund nor a credit transfer. If TSFC cancels an event under circumstances that would make the event non-viable, registrants will be offered a full refund. When you register for an event, you agree to these terms.
