Biography
Dr. Gary Gould is an accomplished Director of Photography and Film Producer with over 35 years of experience both behind the lens and in academia, where he has mentored the next generation of filmmakers—including at prestigious institutions like Oxford University. A Toronto native, his distinguished career includes shooting films for the National Film Board of Canada and major broadcasters such as CBC, Discovery Channel, and CTV. A globetrotting visual storyteller, he has crafted compelling narratives from Africa to Asia, Europe to the Americas, often seeking out the road less traveled—even beneath the waves as a PADI Certified underwater cinematographer. He has also shot films for various international Christian relief and mission organizations, capturing stories of resilience and hope. As an educator he has over 35 years of teaching experience teaching at Toronto Metropolitan University (Formerly Ryerson University), Tyndale University and Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. He also taught for 13 summers at the Oxford Media School, an advanced film and television program run at Oxford University in England. Holding a Ph.D. in Communication from Regent University, a Master of Theological Studies from Ontario Theological Seminary, and a B.A.A. in Radio and Television from Ryerson University, Dr. Gould brings a wealth of knowledge to Tyndale's Media Arts program, inspiring students to craft compelling narratives that resonate across cultures and platforms.
