Biography

Dr. Mary McCampbell is a literary scholar, cultural critic, and author of Imagining Our Neighbors as Ourselves: How Art Shapes Empathy (Fortress Press, 2022), a work exploring how narrative art—spanning literature, film, and music—can expand our imaginations and deepen our capacity for empathy. Holding a Ph.D. from the University of Newcastle, she has taught courses on postmodern theory, popular culture, and the intersection of theology and the arts. Her writing has appeared in publications such as Image Journal, Christianity Today, and The Curator. At Tyndale University, Dr. McCampbell brings her interdisciplinary expertise to the Media Arts program, guiding students to critically engage with media as a transformative tool for storytelling and cultural reflection.
