Tyndale University is pleased to announce that Dr. Janet Clark, Dean Emerita, will be presented with Tyndale University’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her exemplary leadership, faithful service, and enduring contribution to theological education and the global church.

Dr. Clark served at Tyndale University for 15 years as Senior Vice President Academic and Dean of the Seminary, providing leadership during a significant period of growth and development. During her tenure, she strengthened the Seminary’s academic foundations, advanced its curriculum and standards, and cultivated dynamic partnerships with churches and institutions across Canada and beyond. Dr. Clark continues to contribute to Tyndale’s mission as Dean Emerita and through her ongoing supervision of Doctor of Ministry students.

Her leadership has been distinguished not only by academic excellence, but by a deep commitment to the formation and flourishing of faculty, staff, and students. Colleagues describe her as a person of wisdom, grace, and integrity, whose steadfast commitment to Christ has shaped both her work and her relationships with others.

Dr. Clark’s influence extends well beyond Tyndale. Prior to joining the University, she served in theological education at McMaster Divinity College and Redeemer University College, following a decade of missionary service in Indonesia. Her background in international ministry and clinical counselling has shaped a lifelong commitment to intercultural competence and global engagement. She also served as President of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, providing strategic and pivotal leadership to theological institutions across North America.

Throughout her career, Dr. Clark has been a thoughtful advocate for the advancement of women in leadership within theological education and the church. Her enduring investment in others has helped shape generations of students, scholars, and ministry leaders, leaving a lasting legacy of wise, courageous, and transformative leadership.

Tyndale University’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals whose lives demonstrate exemplary service and a commitment to living out the life of Christ in ways that inspire others to faithful service. Dr. Clark’s life and work reflect these commitments profoundly and Tyndale is honoured to recognize Dr. Clark’s remarkable contribution and the lasting impact of her service on the University and the broader Christian community.

The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Dr. Janet Clark at the Tyndale Seminary 50^th Anniversary Celebration Chapel Service on September 22, 2026, where Dr. Clark will be the speaker. As we celebrate fifty years of Tyndale Seminary’s pioneering contribution to theological education, it is both appropriate and deeply deserved that Dr. Janet Clark be honoured with this Distinguished Service Award.
