Tyndale University is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sharon Chuah to Vice President, Student Development beginning July 1, 2024.

“We are pleased to have Ms. Chuah joining the executive leadership team. She has a long history of serving students with excellence and is passionately committed to supporting the university’s mission to assist students in the enriching of mind, heart and character to serve the church and the world for the glory of God,” says Dr. Marjory Kerr, Tyndale’s President and Vice Chancellor. “Sharon’s entrepreneurial abilities and heart to see students succeed are a gift to the Tyndale community and the students we serve.”

"Through the scope of my work, I am intimately aware of the academic, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and vocational needs of our students. I keenly understand their experiences and am passionate about seeing every student succeed in every area,"

— Sharon Chuah

Ms. Chuah joins the executive leadership team having served at Tyndale University for 17 years. She has held various roles in the Registrar’s Office and is the founder and current Director of the Centre for Academic Excellence which includes Writing Services, Tutoring Services, Academic Advising, Career Services, and Accessibility Services. Ms. Chuah will now also give leadership to Tyndale’s Student Life Department and the Tyndale Wellness Centre.

"Through the scope of my work, I am intimately aware of the academic, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and vocational needs of our students. I keenly understand their experiences and am passionate about seeing every student succeed in every area," stated Ms. Chuah. “I am thrilled to join the senior leadership team at Tyndale, with the expanded opportunity to impact students and serve the university community.”

An extensive search for this role began last fall following the announcement of Dr. Barry Smith’s decision to retire at the end of June, 2024. Of the many candidates who expressed their interest and participated in the discernment process, Sharon stood out as the clear choice.

Tyndale expresses gratitude to Dr. Barry Smith, who joined Tyndale in 2011 as Vice President, Student Services and Registrar. Starting in 2014, he served as Senior Vice President Academic and Dean of Undergraduate Studies while also providing executive-level leadership to Student Development. In 2022, Dr. Smith assumed the Vice President of Student Development role exclusively.

Please join us in congratulating and praying for Ms. Chuah during this transition.
