Ready for Submission
Saving Your Document
Downloaded Word
There are five ways to save your document.
- Click the “File” tab (which will bring you to a new screen), then click the “Save” tab on the left of your screen.
-
Click the button at the top of your screen that looks like a floppy disc.

- Turn on “AutoSave” to the left of the floppy disc button.
- Note: This may only work if you are connected to OneDrive and have the document uploaded there. Word will prompt you to upload to OneDrive if it is not already there.
- Hold the control (Ctrl) key on your keyboard (Command [Cmd] for Mac users) and then press the “S” key.
- To save as another file type (e.g., PDF): Click the “File” tab, then click the “Save As” tab on the left of your screen. Click the dropdown menu under your document name and choose the file type you would like to save as. Your original document remains intact if you save it as a different format.
Online Word
By default, your document will autosave to the cloud, so there is no need to save as you go. However, if you want to convert your document to another file type, such as a PDF, you can still do this.
- Click the “File” tab, then hover over the “Export” button. You will be presented with options to save your document.
- Click the “Download as PDF” button. If you want your comments to be visible in the PDF (for example, if you are submitting this as a peer review) then select “Download as PDF with comments” instead.
- To download your document as a normal Word document instead, in the same File dropdown window select “Create a Copy” and “Download a copy.” This will make it easier to upload to your email or Moodle.
Attaching Assignments to an Email
By default, most professors require assignment submissions on Moodle, but others will prefer that you email them your assignment instead.
- Log into your myTyndale email.
- Click the “New Email” button in the top left corner of your screen.
- Click the “Message” tab and then the “Attach” button (the paperclip icon). Choose “Browse this computer” if the document is saved to the computer. Choose “Browse cloud locations” if your document has been saved to Outlook OneDrive.
- A new window will pop up. Find the folder where you saved your document. Use the navigation tab on the left side to find the correct folder (Documents, Downloads, etc).
- If you do not remember where you saved your document, re-open it in Word and select the title at the top of the screen. This should bring up the file name and location.
- Once you have found your document, click it, and then click “Open.” Your document is now attached to your email.
Submitting Assignments on Moodle (classes.tyndale.ca)
- Log into your Moodle account.
- Click on the course you want to submit an assignment for.
- Scroll down to find and click on the correct assignment. An online submission will be denoted by a blue box with an arrow.
- Click on “Add submission.”
- Find and attach your file (as in steps 4 and 5 of attaching a file to an email).
- Sometimes you can make changes to your submission until the due date by clicking the “Edit submission” button, but this is not the case for every class.
- An email will be sent to your myTyndale email address when the assignment has been graded.
Printing Your Document
- Click the “File” tab (which will bring you to a new screen).
- Click the “Print” tab on the left side of this new screen.
- Choose the correct printer, how many copies you want, whether you want your document printed on both sides of each page or only on one side, and anything else that may be applicable.
- Note: Standard practice when submitting an academic paper is to print single-sided.
- Once all the settings are finalized, click the “Print” button towards the top of the screen.
Note that if you are printing from your own personal device at Tyndale that you may have to upload your document to print.tyndale.ca to release it from one of the Tyndale printers.
