Following the Board of Governors meeting on January 30, 2026, Tyndale University announced the planned retirement of Dr. Marjory Kerr, President and Vice Chancellor, at the end of her term in June 2027.
Dr. Kerr reflects, “It has been a privilege to contribute to Tyndale’s 132-year legacy of forming leaders who grow in faith, character, and vocation. Over this season, the University has experienced a period of meaningful transformation including navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, transitioning to university status, advancing strategic and academic priorities, expanding our academic portfolio, and clearing the university’s debt. While I am grateful for these milestones, what I value most is the dedicated community of students, faculty, staff, board members, Chancellor, and alumni with whom I have had the honour to serve and work alongside. I have been welcomed with great warmth, encouraged in countless ways, and am deeply thankful for the relationships and shared commitment that define Tyndale.”
The Board of Governors has established a Search Committee to direct the process of finding a new President and Vice-Chancellor. The process will include opportunity for faculty, staff, students, Cabinet, Board members, and other stakeholders to participate in a series of structured conversations. The insights gathered will inform the Search Committee as it discerns the leadership qualities and priorities most critical for the institution in coming years.
“Since Dr. Kerr’s appointment in 2020, the Board has witnessed Tyndale make important progress across several fronts,” says G. Ross Clark, Chair of Tyndale’s Board of Governors. “The institution has solidified its alignment with its mission, strengthened its position as a Christian university, and taken deliberate steps to ensure stability and strategic direction during a period of significant environmental change. Dr. Kerr’s leadership will be greatly missed.”
At the time of Dr. Kerr’s retirement she will have served at Tyndale for seven years. “Over the next 18 months we still have much to accomplish together, and I will continue to engage fully in the mission and life of Tyndale University. This includes doing all I can to assist in a smooth transition for the students, faculty, staff and Governors of Tyndale University.”
